Where does the "science of reading" go from here?

I gave a talk on this topic at the Yale Child Study Center on 12/4/23 which was not recorded. I have recorded a version with a narration. The slides are here.

This is an updated perspective on the “Science of Reading” approach to instruction from‬

‭ someone who helped get the movement off the ground. There is only one reason for me to write‬

‭ this. I am not selling a product or looking for Internet followers. I’m writing this because I would‬

‭ like to see the “science of reading” succeed and I’m concerned that it won’t without some‬

‭ adjustments.‬
